Shapla Welfare Associates New York, Inc. is located in Astoria. The organization was established in 1996 by Bangladeshi taxi drivers working in New York City. Shapla Welfare Associates New York works for community improvement and capacity building of their enlisted members. The association runs by an elected committee of eleven members. Elections are held every two years. The association organizes election, meeting, picnic, Iftar party, and other social gathering for its members. The organization accepts donations, however, donations to Shapla Welfare Associates is not tax deductible.
