Rongaloy NY is a Bangladeshi cultural organization based in Long Island, New York. It is a not-for-profit, non-political and secular organization in nature. The prime aim of the organization is to introduce Bangla and Bangladeshi culture to the younger generation of Bangladeshi-Americans. The organization encourages younger generations to learn Bangla language as well as explore Bangla drama, Bangladeshi dance and music of Bangladesh. It promotes, practices, as well as, stages new drama. The drama sometimes reflects life of Bangladeshi-Americans in the context of Bangladeshi cultural value. The organization has volunteers who works in music, drama, dance, recitation, literature and arts section.
Objectives of Rongaloy NY
- Provide regular Bangla language and cultural training
- Rehearsal and practice for Bangla cultural events
- Organize and participate Bangladeshi cultural festivals
- Encourage new generation of Bangladeshi-American about Bangla language and culture
- Establish Bangla onto the world stage, etc.
Since its start in 2014, Rongaloy NY has produced several stage dramas like ‘Shonar Chele’, ‘Projonmo’, ‘O Prithibi’ etc. It organizes Bangladesh Mela or Bangladeshi Festival during the summer. The group also observers and actively participates in Bangladeshi cultural events held in New York and World Drama Day etc.
