In 1991, a group of dedicated young people established Bangla School with a slogan Esho Amra Bangla Shikhi. The school started with seven students and two dedicated teachers in a basement. In 1995, the school came under an organization named Bangladesh Center for Cultural Exchange Inc. In January 1996, the organization was registered as a non-profit corporation. In November 1997, the organization was granted tax exempt status under IRS code section 501-C (3). Any donation to the organization is tax deductible.
In 2000, the organization was renamed as Bangladesh Center for Community Development Inc. (BCCDI). BCCDI is one of the listed and respected community groups in the multicultural department of Arlington county, Virginia.
BCCDI-Bangla School is managed by Bangladesh Center for Community Development, Inc, (BCCDI) located in the city of Arlington of Northern Virginia. Bangla School is currently providing the following classes to the Bengali and Non-Bengali Communities of Greater Washington Metropolitan area (Virginia, Maryland and Washington D.C.).
BCCDI-Bangla School is also known as Metro Washington Bangla School.
Bangladesh Center for Community Development Inc. (BCCDI) a corporation registered under the State of Virginia State Corporation Commission and enlisted with the Arlington County Government of Virginia is a IRS approved non-profit (501(c)(3) organization working on community development and capacity building among Bangladeshi American’s in particular and for the citizens of Arlington County and Greater Washington.
