Bangladesh Academy of Fine Arts (BAFA) is a Bangladeshi and South Asian Cultural institution that facilitates enrichment in the performing arts. Based in New York City, BAFA’s leading mission is to educate and spread the knowledge of the rich artistic and cultural heritage that Bangladeshis are truly proud of among the new generation of Bangladeshi-American children and the youth in the USA. BAFA specializes in Kathak, Folk, and Bangladeshi modern contemporary dance forms. Kathak is a classical genre of dance that originated in Northern India and is well known for its intricate choreography, sharp and graceful movements, and compelling footwork. Bangladesh Academy of Fine Arts (BAFA) embraces the heritage and highlight of Bangladeshi culture with the colorful emotions of folk music.
Bangladesh Academy of Fine Arts also provides vocals classes. Students of all ages gain a strong foundation in traditional and classical music. The artists most often discussed in the class range from Rabindranath Tagore and Kazi Nazrul Islam to modern artists who have developed their own interpretations of classical music and vocal techniques. Overall, BAFA is dedicated to providing the most enriching cultural experience.
The organization organizes and/or actively participates in various Bangladeshi cultural festivals in New York. BAFA participates in community festivals to celebrate Ekushey February, Bangladesh Independence Day, Boishakhi or Bangla New Year, Bangladesh Victory Day, etc.
