Bangladeshi American Police Association (BAPA) is a professional association of police officers of Bangladeshi origin who are working in New York City and other police departments. The association was founded in 2015. The association is primarily a networking group representing itself as a collective voice of the nation’s Bangladeshi American Police Officers. As a not-for-profit, secular, democratic organization, Bangladeshi American Police Association ‘Cherish DIVERSITY | Seek UNITY | Protect LIFE.’
The mission of the Bangladeshi American Police Association (BAPA) is to foster relationships through camaraderie and esprit de corps among Law Enforcement Officers of Bangladeshi heritage and foster relationships of goodwill through community outreach. The association also helps and encourages qualified Bangladesh Americans to join NYPD and other law enforcement agencies.
Activities of the Bangladeshi American Police Association (BAPA) include:
- Annual Picnic
- Annual Dinner
- Monthly/quarterly membership meeting
- Police department outreach
BAPA works to
- raise awareness for the specific social cause
- organize recruitment drives
- assist and advise in getting city services
- be a conduit for PD and other city agencies for the community
- be a positive role model and mentor to Bangladeshi youths, etc.
