Bangladesh Center at Leeds, UK, is a Bangladeshi community center that provides information, education, training, and general welfare services. The center was founded in 1989 with the cooperation of Leeds City Council and the Bangladeshi community. The Bangladeshi community has been running independently and controlling the center for all its activities since 2009. Bangladesh Center at Leeds holds annual events, including the RadhaRaman Folk Festival, celebrating the work of RadhaRaman Dutta, a prolific Bangladeshi composer known as the ‘Father of Dhamail Songs.’ Other programs include Bangla New Year, religious festivals, etc. The center’s principal aims are to increase community education and promote social cohesion through regular events and discussions.
An elected committee manages the Bangladesh Center. The committee represents the community’s diverse background, comprised of teachers, doctors, and local businesses of Bangladeshi origin.
