Founded in 2014 as a not-for-profit organization in New York, the Bangladeshi American Center of North America (BACONA) offers Bangladeshi community of Brooklyn free and paid Bangla, English and Arabic learning facilities for young as well as for adults. The training is hands-on and more focused on practical use of language. The organization’s English program for adult focuses specially on Bangladeshi women who wants to learn English to communicate, speak better, go places and find jobs. Classes are held batch-wise and weekday and weekends. For Bangladeshi kids, the center also offers drawing and painting classes. BACONA offers formal tutorial service through Bound For Success Tutoring Center.
To make Bangladeshi kids acquainted with Bangladeshi culture tradition, the center observes Bangladeshi national and cultural events, like Ekushey February (International Mother Language Day), Eid, Ramadan etc. Bangladeshi American Center of North America (BACONA) also helps new immigrants with job information, resume preparation, helps old people with socializing, practice cultural activities, etc.
