Bangladesh Centre London is a Bangladeshi community center in the UK dedicated to cultural, educational, and welfare services for the Bangladeshi community in London. All services are provided in both English and Bangla. The organization serves Kensington, Chelsea, and surrounding boroughs. No appointment is necessary for any advice.
Aims & Objectives of the Center
To Provide an advisory and information service, including casework dealing with welfare benefits, immigration, nationality, homelessness and housing, translation and interpretation, employment and training, legal and policy matters, health care and general information, etc.
- To provide supplementary school programs, including holding classes for Bangla language as a mother tongue, Bangla language for non-Bangali people, and English as a second language. GCSE and ‘A’ level Bangla, English, Maths, Physics, Chemistry, Biology etc.
- To provide advice and guidance on health care by the professional doctor(s).
- To provide ICT facilities to beneficiaries, especially from the Bangladeshi community.
- To organize cultural functions and festivals and to hold Bangladesh national events throughout the year (e.g., Martyrs Day and International Mother Language Day, Independence and National Day, Bangla New Year, Bangladesh Victory Day, etc.). The exhibition of crafts, paintings, and photographs is part and parcel of the cultural activities.
- To provide music school programs to interested groups, including second-generation Bangladeshis, through providing facilities of learning Dance, Music and Drama.
- To organize get-together parties every week for women, arrange sociocultural seminars, and hold classes on painting, knitting, sewing, cooking, performing arts, etc., under the women’s awareness program.
- To provide indoor and outdoor games facilities including table tennis, snooker, chess, carom board, badminton, football, cricket and gym etc.
- To provide hostel facilities with TV/visitor lounge, game room, kitchen and dining room, etc., for the boarders expected to come from all over the world, particularly from Bangladesh.
- To provide library facilities containing educational books, children’s books, and books on Bengali literature with sufficient up-to-date stock of newspapers and periodicals.
- To provide community development services and liaise with the local authorities, central government, and voluntary sector organizations to maintain a good relationship between the indigenous population and the ethnic minority communities.
