Bangladesh Association of Fort McMurray (BAFM) is a Bangladeshi community organization in Alberta, Canada. It is a non-political, non-religious and not-for-profit social organization. The association started under the banner “Bangladeshis in Fort McMurray” before changing its name BAFM. BAFM has been serving the Bangladeshi community for many years. It is the first Bangladeshi registered organization in Fort McMurray.
The principal aim of the organization is to promote Bangladeshi national heritage, culture and linguistic history in the multicultural society of Canada. BAFM also promotes local child and adult artists, performers by engaging them in various cultural activities. The underlying reason for this is to bring out their talent and creativity. The Bangladesh Association of Fort McMurray gives special emphasis on the second generation of Bangladesh community. BAFM also promotes and provides assistance disaster victims in Bangladesh, Canada and other countries through fundraising. BAFM encourages and promotes amateur games and exercises. BAFM provides support services to Bangladeshi immigrants to find employment, get training, prepare resume, translate documents, interpretation/translation services and information programs on Canadian culture and life.
