Baitul Islam Masjid & Community Center (BIMCC) is a Bangladeshi mosque in Bronx, New York. Baitul Islam Masjid conducts five daily prayers and provide Islamic education to Muslim kids. Baitul Islam Masjid & Community Center (BIMCC) has been involved in the local community since 1980’s. In the beginning it provided the Muslim community a place for prayer. But over the years as the Bangladeshi population has grown, BIMCC took various initiative to accommodate their diverse need. Now the mosque is a center of education for children to learn about basics of Islam. For the youth, it is a place for congregation, discuss educational issues, talk about neighborhood development activities, celebrate birthday, weddings, and social events, etc. For adult Bangladeshi men and woman, it is also center of inspiration. From birth announcement to janaza (funeral) ceremonies, Baitul Islam Masjid & Community Center does it all.
BIMCC is open to all Muslims – children, youth, men and women regardless of ethnic background. Baitul Islam Masjid also welcomes non-Muslims to visit the center. The center sees its role not only as a religious center, but a place for people to come and feel at home.
BIMCC is open seven days a week for all five prayers. There are Jummah prayers on each Friday. There are many weekend activities for young member of the center. Boys and girls hold separate yet respective activities for their moral, social, and religious development on a regular basis. The adults participate in discuss and learn more about Qur’an and Sunnah from Imam and other learned individuals. Women also have their own discussion about Islamic teaching and how to live a productive Islamic lifestyle.
The funding for Baitul Islam Masjid comes from individual donations. The center is not-for-profit and always welcome donations to expand it activities.
