BACDYS (Bangladeshi American Community Development and Youth Services, Inc.) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization founded in 2011 by Misba Abdin, a business owner, community activist, and life-long resident of East New York. BACDYS borders the neighborhoods of East New York, Brooklyn and Ozone Park, Queens, and serves residents from both boroughs.
BACDYS’ mission is to provide low-income youth and adults in New York City with the skills, confidence, and knowledge they need to change their lives for the better. BACDYS focuses on four key areas: affordable housing, education, youth programs, and entertainment.
- Affordable Housing: BACDYS provides housing assistance to low-income families and individuals. BACDYS also advocates for policies that promote affordable housing in New York City.
- Education: BACDYS provides educational opportunities to low-income youth and adults. BACDYS offers tutoring, after-school programs, and college preparation courses.
- Youth Programs: BACDYS provides a variety of youth programs, including sports, arts, and cultural activities. BACDYS also offers leadership development programs for youth.
- Entertainment: BACDYS hosts a variety of cultural events and festivals to celebrate the diversity of the South Asian American community. BACDYS also offers entertainment programs for youth and adults.
