The Bangladesh-Canada Friendship Society (BCFS) is a non-profit organization that promotes friendship and understanding between Bangladeshis and Canadians. Founded in 2019, the society is committed to diversity and inclusion, and welcomes members of all ages, faiths, income levels, and social status. The society offers a variety of programs and events, including cultural festivals, educational workshops, and social service initiatives.
The Bangladesh-Canada Friendship Society is the primary choice for Bangladeshis and Canadians who want to learn more about each other’s cultures and build bridges of understanding. The society is committed to equity, diversity, tolerance, and justice, and works to create a society free from all forms of discrimination. The society also helps new Bangladeshi immigrants and the less fortunate in society to become successful.
The Society membership is open to all individuals of Bangladeshi origin over the age of 18 years; must reside in Canada and who supports the mission, vision, and guiding principles of the Society. Bangladesh Canada Friendship Society offers both paid and unpaid membership. Membership is valid from January to December of the same year.
Activities
- Sport Club: BCFS organizes and sponsors sport activities throughout the year including Badminton, Cricket, Table Tennis, Soccer etc.
- Kids Club: BCFS runs a Bangladeshi kids club for learning and fun. It includes math club, arts and crafts, outdoor camping, dance, drama, music lessons etc.
- Safe Landing: A project to help newly arrived Bangladeshis to settle in Halifax – activates include information sessions, temporary accommodation, help with bank account opening, job search, health card etc.
