New York City Bangladeshi Civil Service Society is a not-for-profit organization for Bangladeshi Americans who work in New York City and state and federal government organizations. The organization is dedicated to promoting the cultural heritage and professional development of the Bangladeshi community in New York City. Founded in 2020, the organization provides a platform for Bangladeshi American civil servants to connect, network, and share resources. A 17-member executive committee is elected every two years to run the organization. The organization also has an 11-member advisory committee selected by the executive committee.
Although the organization’s name is ‘New York City Bangladeshi Civil Service Society’ ((NYCBCSS or BCSS or NBCS), the organization accommodates and welcomes City, State, and Federal level employees of Bangladeshi origin.
Goals
- Serve as a forum for city, state, and federal government employees of Bangladesh origin.
- Link the Bangladeshi community and the New York City Bangladeshi Civil Service Society.
- Represent Bangladesh’s people and culture in the city, state, and federal governments.
- Render support to the Bangladeshi community through various services from the city, state, and federal governments.
- Promote the welfare of members and respective families.

- Promote and preserve Bangladeshi culture and heritage in New York City.
- Foster a sense of community among Bangladeshi civil servants.
- Advocate for the professional development and advancement of Bangladeshi civil servants.
- Provide a forum for Bangladeshi civil servants to discuss issues of common concern.
Activities
The NBCSS organizes a variety of events throughout the year, including:
- Cultural events celebrating Bangladeshi holidays and traditions include Pohela Boishakh, Ekushe February, and the Iftar party.
- Educational workshops, career seminars, and job opportunities on topics relevant to civil servants.
- Networking events that provide opportunities for Bangladeshi civil servants to connect via annual reunions.
- Social events that promote a sense of community among Bangladeshi civil servants.
Membership Benefits

New York City Bangladeshi Civil Service Society offers three types of memberships:
General: This program is open to all employees of Bangladeshi origin working in the New York City, New York State, and Federal government. An annual membership fee of $30 is required.
Associate: Family members of the General members. No fee is required.
Honorary: Nominated by the Executive Committee Team. No fee is required.
Lifetime: A lifetime membership is available to general members for $300.
