Established in 2022, NRB World connects Bangladeshi business professionals, investors, and policymakers with Non-Resident Bangladeshis (NRBs). As a non-profit, non-political, and service-driven organization, NRB World aims to leverage NRBs’ skills, expertise, and investments to contribute to Bangladesh’s development by fostering collaboration, innovation, and investment. The mission is to harness the skills, expertise, and resources of Non-Resident Bangladeshis (NRBs) to contribute meaningfully to Bangladesh’s social and economic development.
Though primarily based in the United States, the organization has grown into an international network of hundreds of expatriate professionals across many countries. The organization strives to bring NRBs from different regions under one umbrella, fostering collaboration and innovation to drive Bangladesh’s progress.
While NRB World was officially launched in 2022, its journey began in 2014 at the World Business Summit in Singapore, where Bangladeshi expatriates gathered to explore ways to support their homeland. This vision materialized further through four more successful business summits held in Bangladesh (2017), the United States (2018), the United Arab Emirates (2019), and Dubai (2021).
Activities
NRB World is committed to turning brain drain into brain gain by facilitating knowledge exchange and investment opportunities. The organization has outlined a three-step approach to achieving this goal:
- Training & Skill Development – Providing mentorship and training for young Bangladeshi professionals through NRB experts, transforming them into a highly skilled workforce.
- Employment Opportunities – Creating job placement programs for Bangladeshi youth domestically and internationally.
- Connecting NRB Experts with Government & Enterprises – Introducing NRB specialists to government bodies and top corporations, enabling them to contribute to critical projects and national initiatives.
NRB World aims to continue organizing global summits, networking events, and policy discussions, ensuring ongoing communication between expatriate professionals, domestic investors, and policymakers. Through these efforts, NRB World aims to empower NRBs, strengthen Bangladesh’s economy, and foster long-term national development.
