The Australia Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce & Industry (ABCCI) was founded in 2021 in Melbourne, Victoria, to promote trade between Australia and Bangladesh, create the largest commerce community, connect Australia and Bangladesh, and inspire talent growth.
ABCCI objectives
- to provide legal or commercial support and guidance to its members across Australia.
- to foster an understanding of Bangladeshi culture and business practices within the Australian business community.
- to assist in export-import activities between Australia and Bangladesh.
- to influence government policy in the interests of its members, trade, commerce, and industry.
- to promote or oppose legislative and other regulatory measures that impact the interests of its members, trade, commerce, and industry.
Membership
Australia Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce & Industry (ABCCI) offers four types of membership – General, Associate, Life, and Youth.
General membership:
- Membership Type: General membership for individuals or company directors.
- Membership Benefits: Access to community privileges, rights, and benefits.
- Eligibility Criteria: Australian PR/citizen, over 18, actively operating Australian business, ABN for two years.
Associate membership:
- Membership Eligibility: Over 18 years old and legitimate interest in Bangladesh affairs.
- Membership Rights: Participate in activities, receive meeting notices, and attend member meetings.
- Membership Restrictions: Not eligible for General Membership and cannot vote at AGMs.
Life Membership
- Eligibility for Life Membership: Individuals over 18 who register as ordinary members and contribute significantly to the Chamber may be nominated for life membership.
- Approval Process: Life membership requires a written nomination, approval by the Board, and an ordinary resolution of directors in a general meeting.
- Rights and Privileges: Life members retain all rights and privileges of membership without paying an annual subscription.
Youth Membership
- Membership Eligibility: Students or young individuals enrolled in an eligible course supporting the Chamber’s objectives.
- Student Membership Rights: Entitled to all rights and privileges of membership except voting at Chamber meetings.
- Membership Subject: Subject to the Chamber’s Constitution.
Membership Benefit
ABCCI offers endless networking opportunities, investment possibilities, and support for legislative requirements. Members can also promote trade and investment in Australia and Bangladesh.
