The World Human Rights & Development (WHRD) is a New York City-based not-for-profit organization dedicated to empowering Bangladeshi immigrants. Founded in 1997, WHRD fights for essential needs like education, healthcare, and legal support for vulnerable people. WHRD works primarily within the Bangladeshi community living in New York City.
Focus Areas for World Human Rights & Development:
- Organizes social and cultural events to foster a sense of belonging and celebrate Bangladeshi heritage.
- Offers educational programs on domestic violence, religious extremism, and climate change and promotes healthy communities.
- Provides job training, counseling, and referrals to help immigrants integrate into American society.
- Offers vital assistance with Social Security, healthcare, housing, and immigration issues, including DACA and asylum applications.
- Supports and stands up for equal opportunity and human rights for all.
