Let’s Work for Bangladesh (LWFB) is a Bangladeshi organization in Australia that encourages all Bangladeshis to contribute towards Bangladesh in any shape or form. No matter how big or small the contribution is, what really matters is to get started. This is a humble effort of nine Bangladeshi Australians working together to make a difference in the lives of the poor people in Bangladesh especially, in education sector.
The vision of Let’s Work for Bangladesh (LWFB) is to see all Bangladeshi’s having access to the basic needs including food, health, shelter and education. Unlike many charities, LWFB has no administration costs, offices or salaried staff.
Following are some of the projects of LWFB:
- Established Bangladesh Canberra Friendship School (BCFS) for 300 students in Char Fasson, Bhola, operated by Co-Operation in Development Inc, Australia. LWFB have been raising $8,000 every year with the generous help of Canberra community to run this school
- Running two scholarship programs at HSC level managed by Grameen Support Group
- Launched a scholarship program for a fresh medical student at Rangpur Medical College managed by Grameen Support Group
- Launched a scholarship program for a fresh Engineering Student at Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology managed directly by LWFB
- Sponsoring the living and vocational training expenses for 30 street children at the Happy Homes in Dhaka run by ActionAid Australia, Sydney
- Donated $300 to Deaf Children’s Association School in Bangladesh
- Sponsored one cleft operation through Aussie Smile for $200
- Sponsored 8 eyesight restoration through Fred Hollows for $200
- Launched a scholarship program at HSC level managed directly by LWFB
