Bangladesh Association of New England (BANE)

Bangladesh Association of New England (BANE) is an organization for Bangladeshi community living in New England area of USA (Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Vermont). Active since 1971, the organization arranges Bangladeshi cultural programs. It celebrates Bangla New Year, Bangla Language day, Bangladesh Independence day, Bangladesh Liberation day and other events. Bangladesh Association of New England organizes concerts, fairs, dance, music events as part of its activities.

The organization also helps Bangladeshi kids to learn Bangla language. Bangla language program is open to all Bangladeshi community in in Cambridge, Medford, Somerville, Billerica and surrounding areas.  Tuition fee for Bangla language class is $10/student. Classes are held every Sunday for three hours.

The association has a 2-year membership program. Membership fee varies from $15 to $500. Members are entitles to vote in biennial Election/Selection of Executive Committee. To become a member one has to be (1) 18 years old (2) a legal resident of New England and (3) of Bangladeshi origin.
