Shabdaguchha (শব্দগুচ্ছ) is a bilingual (Bangla and English) poetry journal published by Shabdaguchha Press in New York. It was established in 1998. The journal is published every 6 months. Bangladesh and Bangla poetry is the prime focus of Shabdaguchha. It also publishes literary works of Bangladeshi writers translated in English and literary works of non-Bangladeshi poets and writers. Many of its current and archived publications are available in its website.
Subscription of Shabdaguchha is $12 per year in the USA and $15 for other countries.
Shabdaguchha accepts submission throughout the year. Poetry, written in Bangla and English or translated form from any other language in Bangla or English, is always welcome. Book review and news on poets and poetry could also be sent. Each submission should accompany with a short bio of the author. Email submissions are most welcome. However, Bangla written in English alphabets are not acceptable.
Occasionally, Shabdaguchha organizes or attends poetry reading meetups/events to spread Bangla poetry among Bangladeshis living abroad as well as other communities who loves poetry.
Every odd number of year, Shabdaguchha Poetry Award is given to a promising poet, who already made a significant contribution and who have contributed to Shabdaguchha at least for a couple of times. Anyone could nominate three poets from the first day of January to the first day of April. Out of the nominations submitted, Shabdaguchha sorts the names and announces three to five nominees on April 14. Finally, the name of the winner is announced on Dec 16.
