The Bangladeshi Expatriate Society of Texas (BEST) will organize a Mental Health First Aid Seminar on February 25.
Mental Health First Aid teaches people how to recognize, comprehend, and respond to symptoms of mental illness and substance use problems. It is the first and most immediate support provided to someone who is experiencing or developing a mental health illness, such as depression or anxiety disorders, or who is in the midst of a mental health crisis, such as suicide ideation or panic attack. Mental health first aid is intended to assist persons who recognize mental health conditions and who are experiencing a mental health crisis.
Syeda Jesmin, a Sociology professor at the University of North Texas at Dallas, will facilitate the seminar.
Advanced registration is required to attend the seminar. Seats are limited. No walk-ins are allowed. Lunch will be provided.
