Peace and Unity Rally in Brooklyn in remembrance of Imam Maulana Aknjee and Thara Uddin. Maulama Akonjee and his 64-year-old assistant, Thara Uddin, both of Bangladeshi origin, was shot dead by a gunman in broad daylight in Ozone Park on Sat, Aug 13th. Bangladeshi community was shocked by the event and believe it was a ‘hate crime’ – although NYPD said they haven’t determined a motive for the killings. Organized by the Brooklyn Bangladeshi community, the Peace and Unity Rally will remember the two departed souls. Local Bangladeshi community organizers will speak at the event. The rally also will remember all the Muslim lives lost in violence in recent years in USA and elsewhere. The rally is to show solidarity with the victims and to let the world know that violence is unacceptable.

NYC Council Member Brad Lander will be present at the event.
