Bangladeshi Boishakhi Pothomela

Bangladeshi Boishakhi Pothomela will be organized jointly by Bangladesh-American Friendship Society (BAFS) and 66 Precinct Community Council on May 1st, 2016 in Brooklyn. Fashion show, music, dance, talent show, food stall, clothing and jewelry stall and other fun events will be part of the celebration. A magazine will be published to commemorate the event. Raffle draw will test participants luck! The event is free, all are welcome.

New American Women’s Forum of New York: Boishakhi Mela

New American Women’s Forum of New York will host Boishakhi Mela 2016 in Jamaica, New York. The event is to celebrate cultural tradition of Bangla New Year (Pohela Boishakh). Stalls available to shop clothing, jewelry and gift items, books, CDs/DVDs, toys etc. Food booths will sell traditional Bangla New Year food and snack. Free Panta and Illis (Bangladeshi traditional New Year food) will be served from 4:00 pm – 5:00 pm.

Cultural program include live music, dance, DJ, band, fashion show, etc. performed by local Bangladeshi kid, young and adult artists. Free event. All are welcome. The event is also jointly hosted by New American Democratic Club and New American Youth Forum.

To celebrate Bangla New Year of 2016, Bioshakhi Mela (বৈশাখী মেলা) and Baul Karim Festival (বাউল করিম উৎসব) will be organized by Jamaica Bangladesh Friends Society, NY. The event is an annual Bangladeshi cultural festival in New York. Free and all are welcome with family and friends.

Borshobaran 2016

Borshobaran 2016 by Drama Circle will he held in Long Island City, New York. Borshobaran (বর্ষবরন), also spelled Borsho Boron, is a part of Boishakhi festival – Bangla New Year. ‘Panta’ (water soaked fermented rice) and ‘Ilish’ (Hilsa fish), various kinds of ‘vorta’ (mashed goodies), and other Bangladeshi food items will be available. Events will include Bangla new year music, dance, face painting for kids, traditional food, etc. The event is free. All are welcome to participate. Come dressed in traditional Bangladeshi Boishakhi dress.

Boishakhi Mela 2015, London – The once in a year Boishakhi Mela 2015 in London will have a multitude of food stalls, rickshaw rides and colorful floats to welcome the Bangla New Year. Enjoy the Boishakhi celebrations this May with your family and friends while Bangladeshi community rejoices.

London Brick Lane is well-known for its Indian curry places so it will be very easy to hit upon a great feast while watching the Boishakhi celebrations in London; even though you should be expecting the restaurants very busy during Boishakhi Mela in London! Conventional costumes, Bengal tigers and ethnic rituals can be abundant. Elephants are one of the attractions of this yearly carnival parade in Brick Lane. The festivities normally start with an extensive carnival between Allen Gardens and Weavers Fields, all along the lane, led by neighborhood children in eye-catching traditional dresses. You should try the famous hot biriyani, vindaloo and balti from a number of restaurants and well-liked stalls which place Brick Lane in London on the atlas.
