Bangla Street Festival/Pothomela 2024 – Jamaica Bangladesh Friends Society 

Jamaica Bangladesh Friends Society will organize a Bangla Street Festival (Pothomela) in Jamaica, Queens, New York. Local Bangladeshi singers, artists, and performers will entertain the attendees. The Bangladeshi business community will sponsor the event, and Bangladeshi media companies will act as media partners.

Many vendors will offer traditional Bangladeshi food, clothing, jewelry, toys, etc. From 12:00 noon to 2:00 pm, a more conventional Bangladeshi delicacy, ‘Panta Vhat Illish’ (Fermented rice with Hilsha Fish), will be a significant attraction.

The event is free and open to all.

Church-McDonald Bangladeshi Business Association Pothomela, 2023

The Church-McDonald Bangladeshi Business Association (CMBBA) Pothomela (Street Fair) will be held on Saturday, September 16, 2023, all day. It is an annual fixture of the Bangladeshi community in Brooklyn and New York, and is also known as the Kensington street “Little Bangladesh” mela. Thousands of Bangladeshis from all walks of life will come to celebrate Bangladeshi culture for a day full of colorful activities.

The fair will feature many Bangladeshi food, cloth, jewelry, and toy stalls, making it a convenient one-stop shop for the community. Live music will be performed by local and visiting singers from Bangladesh. A colorful magazine in Bangla will be published with sponsoring Bangladeshi businesses, stories, poetry, and more. There will also be a raffle draw with grand prizes such as car, smart TV, laptop, iPad, air tickets, and valuable household items.
