SpaandanB Fundraising and Boishakhi Mela

The main purpose of SpaandanB Fundraising and Boishakhi Mela is to raise funds for SpaandanB projects. Throughout the event, SpaandanB will collect voluntary contributions to support its ongoing activities in Bangladesh. Contributions are tax deductible and may qualify for company matching-donation program as well.

Celebration of Bangla New Year, 1422 in fun and festivity and at the same time learn how your kind donations have changed so many under-privileged lives in Bangladesh. Start the day with a colorful Mela, decorated with stalls, offering authentic Bangladeshi delectables. There will be carnival style games for kids. A live performance by local artists will keep you entertained. There will be raffles giving out attractive prizes. Mela is free for all!

At the evening, SpaandanB will present its activities through interactive audio visual session. This will be followed by a musical performance. This year renowned Bangladeshi singer Fahmida Nabi and Close-up 1 Star Ritu Raj will participate. The combination of these celebrated artists together with a fine team of instrumental hands will make this a memorable event. The evening program will require you to purchase entrance ticket. Tickets are priced at $30,$50 and $100.

Admission

Admission is free for all for the Mela. Cultural program requires paid admission ($30 Silver, $50 Golden and $100 Platinum admission). However, children 5 and younger who will not occupy seat (that is, will share a seat with a parent), will have free admission.

Ekushey Celebration by Dhaka University Alumni Association of USA

Ekushey Celebration by Dhaka University Alumni Association of USA. Various university and college alumni associations, regional associations, cultural organizations, professional organizations of Bangladeshi origin based in USA will participate jointly in celebrating Ekushey February or International Mother Language Day Celebration, 2015. Besides focusing on historical aspects of Bangladesh language movement, the event is to promote awareness of linguistic and cultural diversity and multilingualism.

Program includes songs, music, dance Bangla poetry recitation, memoir, etc. Award for talented children. The program will be broadcast in North American Bangladeshi TV channels.

The event is free and open to all. The program will end with placing floral wreaths at Shaheed Minar.

Kaderi Kibria – Solo Music

Kaderi Kibria – Solo Music Night. Kaderi Kibria will sing Rabindra Sangeet and old Bangla songs. Tapan Modok will help with Tabla.

Kaderi Kibria is a Bangladeshi singer. He is a Rabindra Sangeet singer. In 2013, Kibria was awarded the Ekushey Padak in the Arts category – a high civilian honour in Bangladesh, in the Arts category. During the Bangladesh Liberation War he sang the desatbabodhaka song “Shadin Bangla Betar Kendro”

BIPA Bangla New Year Festival of 1422

Bangladesh Institute of Performing Arts, BIPA Bangla New Year Festival of 1422. There will be parade, block festival, special performances to mark Bangla New Year (Boishakh). The program will also include song, dance and poetry recitation of BIPA students, BIPA dance and BIPA Award for contribution in Bangalee Culture.

Parade: With traditional Bangla festoon, banner, dance, drum, and other musical instruments. The parade usually rounds few blocks of the venue. Starts from 36-01, 37th Street, Astoria at 3:30 pm.

Festival: Stalls for fashion clothing, jewelry, toys, food, face painting, etc.

Special performances: Sri Lankan dance, Jersey Wave Band, Chinese dance, Samba Drumming, BATALA, NY, Kathak Ensemble dance.

Bangladesh Martyred Intellectuals Day (শহীদ বুদ্ধিজীবি দিবস) & Bangladesh Victory Day (বিজয় দিবস) Celebration in New York. The event is organized by Udichi School of Performing Arts, New York and Udichi, USA.
